Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has submitted nomination papers to compete for the post of Chancellor of Oxford University in the UK. His party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) made the announcement on Sunday. Imran Khan is lodged in a jail in Rawalpindi. A representative submitted the nomination paper on his behalf. According to the Guardian, the Convocation of Oxford University is responsible for electing the Chancellor. Anyone wishing to contest for the post of Chancellor must be nominated by at least two members of the Convocation to be considered eligible. Convocation will be asked to elect a new chancellor through an online ballot in the third week of the autumn term on 28 October, according to the University of Oxford's website. The new Chancellor will hold the post for 10 years. Traditionally the post of Chancellor is reserved for university graduates. Politicians often stand in this position.
