 North Korea is opening its doors to foreign tourists. Foreign tourists will be able to visit the northeastern city of Samjion from December.

Travel companies said on Wednesday that they expect foreign tourists to be allowed to travel to the rest of the country.

China's Beijing-based Koryo Tours said on its website that it has confirmed through its local partners that foreign tourists will be able to visit Samgeon from December this year. Foreign tourists may also be allowed to travel to the rest of North Korea.

International flights to North Korea began last year. Last February, a small group of Russian tourists made a private visit to North Korea.

Last June, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the country.

Since 2020, the doors of North Korea, the country of Kim Jong-un, have not been fully opened to international tourists.

Another travel agency, KTG Tours, said that foreign tourists will be able to travel to North Korea's Samjeon city from the coming winter season.
