This is the first time in Pochettino's coaching career

 Mauricio Pochettino's coaching career spans 15 years. However, despite coaching for more than an era, he never managed the national team. Finally, Pochettino is taking charge of the USA team as the first national team. The Argentine coach has agreed to serve until the 2026 World Cup, according to The Athletic.

Two years later, the FIFA World Cup will be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada. In this World Cup of 48 teams, the maximum 78 matches, including the final, will be played in the United States.

Pochettino, 52, was last at Chelsea. Neither the authorities nor Pochettino were satisfied with their place, despite starting in 2023 on a two-year deal. The contract was terminated by consent of both parties last May. Meanwhile, the US soccer team has been without a coach since July. Greg Berhalter lost his job when the team was eliminated from the group stage in the Copa America held in the United States. Since then, USA has been looking for a big name coach.

According to The Athletic, the United States had their eye on Jurgen Klopp. Who left Liverpool this summer. If the German coach is adamant about taking some time away from coaching, the United States has to reach for alternatives. The best choice was Pochettino.

This Argentinian coach became the coach of Espanyol, the team of his playing life in 2009. He then worked at Southampton, Tottenham, PSG and Chelsea. Most of those five years were spent at Tottenham, where the team reached the Champions League final under him.

According to ESPN and Athletic sources, Pochettino has accepted the offer to become the coach of the United States. He will join the team soon. Pochettino's campaign in the United States could begin with a friendly against Canada on September 7.
